After looking through some different channels and watching them each for a few mintues, I didn't notice any huge differences, but some subtle ones. Most of the channels were covering events and speeches happening at the UN Conference going on these last few days. Al Jazeera showed the Libyan president giving a speech that was an hour and a half long, but didn't really show any of the footage of Obama speaking, they just talked about it. The France news station and BBC actually showed Obama speaking and only discussed what it said to a small extent.
Al Jazeera Questions
1. I think the internet is a good place for Al Jazeera to start of they want to come to the U.S. Since the internet is more popular than ever these days, I'm sure a lot of people in the U.S. visits cites like Livestation and watch Al Jazeera.
2. I am a strong believer in freedom of speech and freedom of the press so I believe that anyone who wants to use those freedoms should be able to. As long as no news station tries to use propaganda to convert people to believe in their own beliefs. They would need to work on showing more sides of stories than they seem to be currently.
3. First of all, I noticed that the people on Al Jazeera rely mostly on telling the news as they see it. While they were reporting on what Obama said during this speeches at the UN Conference, there was a reporter who was just saying, "This is what he said. This is what he meant." Instead of just showing parts of the speech to let the viewer see what he said for themselves.
4. I don't really think any news stations adheres completely to their Code of Ethics. I'm sure that Al Jazeera occasionally lets opinion leak into their reports sometimes. I also don't think they present their stories in a way that shows all sides. They do seem a little one-sided throughout their broadcast.
